It’s The Little Things

It’s The Little Things

At The Kincaid House, we’ve been fortunate to host weddings for 3 years and after a while you begin to see what works and what doesn’t.  I have always been a type A person until at 50, I decided to decompress a little.  I’ve read How to Win  Friends and Influence People so many times (required reading at my old office).  After you read it, you realize that everyone is different and unique.  In the wedding business you see that is true but in the end everyone wants the same thing – a happy day with limited stress.  Since I do have type A traits, when I give a tour of the property, my mind is racing with ideas and thoughts of how to make this day special for each bride and stay within budget.  Sometimes my tours take 45 minutes and other times we go on for almost 2 hours.  I love to share pictures and wonderful ideas from previous weddings.  Our former brides want to share what they learned when planning their weddings.  One thing I try to stress is the little special things that you do for your guests are what will be remembered.  No one really remembers the ceremony, what the minister said, what music played, but if the groom has a special look on his face when he sees the bride, people will remember that.  If you have great food or special desserts, guests remember that.  If you have stunning tables for guests, they remember.  We’ve got a lot of space to use and lots of places for people to converse and guests love that.  They don’t feel trapped standing or sitting around people they don’t know or have nothing in common with (other than being invited).  We’ve got lots of shelves in the house to put pictures and memories and guests love to look at those and reminisce.  I love to have a special memory table or shelve area to have photos of the ones we love who can’t be with us but are smiling down on the day.  We try to help brides have the little things that will make their day and their guests feel special.  So remember, if you are out for a tour, I will probably bombard you with info but it’s only because I want your day to be as special as you are to me and The Kincaid House.
